Project Architecture & Development

Nineteen volunteers and unpaid workers from Artelia France and Vietnam travelled to Nepal between April and August to audit houses affected by the 2015 earthquake, train local inhabitants in carrying out the necessary urgent renovation works and start these works with them, armed with hammers, nails, planks and set squares.

The association Architecture & Development has two new projects in the pipeline between now and the end of the year.

Assignment in Nepal : assistance to the association with building a 50 m2 house by the end of November. The house will be built of stone masonry with a few masonry reinforcements and a wooden framework, and the works will also involve installing doorframes. I organise two assignments of 8 days on site with a group of at least 6 participants for each one: the first group would be on site from 23 to 30 October and the second one from 30 October to 6 November (count 3 days on top of that for travelling to and from the site in Nepal). The assignment consists in building the house and does not require any specific technical skills. Feel free to ask other employees to accompany you, as I am grateful for any willing volunteers who are capable of lending a hand and don’t mind living in modest conditions on site, probably in local inhabitants’ homes.
