Construction of a sanitation network in a remote village in Laos

Construction of a sanitation network for a mountain village in northern Laos.

Two Arteliavolunteers visited the site to identify the various water discharge points (sink, shower) in a mountain village, in order to propose a wastewater treatment system.

Nicolas : Thanks to the Artelia Foundation and ADV Laos, we were able to take part in an incredible adventure! This mission was professionally enriching, as we had to deal with difficult access to the village, a significant lack of data, and some local habits that differ greatly from what we’re used to in France.
Thanks to Bernard, Dala, and the entire ADV Laos team, we were guided through an immersion into the daily life of the Lao people—sharing meals, celebrating together, and enjoying simple, meaningful moments far from tourist areas. Special thanks to Bernard and Dala! They were a true source of inspiration, and it’s thanks to their commitment to doing good in this impoverished country that I had the chance to live this experience.

Laetitia : Carrying out this kind of project for and with people from the other side of the world—whose lives are so different from ours—makes a lot of sense.
And yet, we were able to share some wonderful moments of exchange. Laotian-style celebrations are something else! 😉
We were very well supported throughout the mission, and I’d like to thank Bernard, co-president of the association, for his energy, kindness, and deep knowledge of the field; Ly for his jokes and ingenious spirit; and Dala for her delicious Lao cooking.
