COVID-19 Action

The state of emergency declared by the Spanish government due to the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in children and adolescents being confined to their homes. Home should be a comfortable, safe space, but this is not always the case. Some children experience domestic violence, and others face illness, grief, fear and anxiety.

The ANAR Foundation decided, due to this difficult context, to expand the the helpline services provided to at-risk Spanish youth. The objective was to offer assistance to all children and adolescents in the country who find themselves confined in dangerous situations. The Artelia Foundation's Emergency Fund enabled ANAR to strengthen their ANAR Chat and ANAR Email helplines so that a maximum number of children could contact the association in complete security and confidentiality during the current state of emergency.

Fundación ANAR is a non-profit organization founded in 1970 in Madrid. The Foundation is dedicated to advocating and defending the rights of at-risk and vulnerable children and adolescents in Spain and Latin America, within the framework of the United Nations Convention concerning the Rights of the Child.

The Foundation envisions a world in which all children and adolescents have the right to be heard on issues that concern them. Aware that youth represent society's most vulnerable population, the Foundation aspires to create a world in which the rights of children are guaranteed.

The mission of the Foundation is to support children and adolescents through the helplines, to respond to their problems and concerns, to protect them and to empower them in an holistic way in all their needs, making them participants in finding solutions to their own problems. The Foundation ensures a continuous presence for these children through technology.
