Sustainable Development Manager at Emeraude-International

François Danel has been Sustainable Development Manager at Emeraude-International since 2017.

Between 2014 and 2016, he was involved in creating and developing the following two associations:

  • Earthwake, an association fighting against plastic waste in Africa. Its aim is to find ways to reuse this waste in order to create local jobs and promote a circular economy based on recycling projects.
  • Moteur!, an association that helps youngsters from working-class backgrounds in France. It organises fun events giving them opportunities to meet inspiring role models through a video competition, and has designed a "serious game" to help them choose a future profession.

Before that, from 2007 to 2013, François Danel was Executive Director of Action Against Hunger (ACF), an international non-governmental organisation which originated in France and is committed to ending world hunger. It implements nutrition, water, healthcare and food security programmes in 40 countries around the world.

Previously, François Danel acted as Financial Director of ACF between 1990 and 1996, then Financial Director of UCPA between 1996 and 2003, and then General Secretary of IFAS between 2004 and 2006.

He also held various positions within Action Against Hunger over the period between 1996 and 2006, including being elected its Vice President in June 2005. He stood down from that role in 2006 to join the Board of Trustees.

Married with three children, François Danel holds a bachelor's degree in business law and is a graduate of the Institut des Sciences politiques de Paris.
