Access to education and clean drinking water in the Dol-Dol region
Construction of an educational complex comprising a primary school, a canteen, toilet facilities and a vegetable garden in the Dol-Dol region of Kenya, to enable young children from remote areas to access local education in better conditions.
Two Artelia staff members travelled to the Dol-Dol region to support the implementation of the Nossim School construction project. They drew on their expertise to assess and supervise the installation of a drinking water supply system, including drilling, storage and water treatment. They also helped train local teams in the operation and maintenance of the equipment, to ensure sustainable access to water for the pupils and the smooth running of the school.
I travelled to Kenya with the ARTELIA Foundation to help design a well to supply a school with drinking water. My expertise in hydrogeology and the installation of piezometric structures proved useful in supporting the charity ‘Sur le Chemin de l’Ecole’. This well will be the result of a shared commitment to improving living conditions and access to water for the future schoolchildren of Dol-Dol. I am full of hope for the future of the project and hope that this mission will inspire more people to work towards a fairer and more caring world. However modest it may be, it is our own small contribution towards changing the world.
