Calls for projects
Monday 02 February 2026

Promote concrete responses provided by nature‑based solutions

General context

Defined by IUCN as ecosystem‑based actions that address societal challenges while providing benefits for human well‑being and biodiversity, nature‑based solutions (NbS) offer concrete and sustainable responses to the challenges that global changes pose to our societies, such as climate change mitigation, natural risk management, health, water supply, and food security.

In a context of increasing pressures (degraded water, urban overheating, depleted soils, etc.), preserved or restored, resilient, and functional ecosystems host rich biodiversity and thus provide numerous ecosystem services to our societies: regulation of the water cycle, protection against natural hazards, and carbon storage.

Call for projects presentation

In line with the IUCN Global Standard, the objective of this call for projects is to support the emergence or long‑term sustainability of field initiatives that restore or strengthen ecosystems in order to address a specific local issue, while delivering ecological benefits (biodiversity and/or ecosystem functions) and measurable social co‑benefits.

Main themes :

  • Ecological restoration and ecological connectivity
  • Living soils
  • Rainwater management and aquatic environment
  • Coastal environments and coastal erosion control
Exploratory approaches only, as well as actions limited to events or awareness‑raising without actual implementation, are not targeted by this call for projects.

Financial Support

The call for projects has a total budget of 80 000 euros. Selected projects will be allocated a specific amount determined by the Artelia Foundation, based on the needs and scale of each project, as well as the number of projects funded.

Human Support

In addition to the financial contribution, support will be provided by Artelia employees through skills-based philanthropy or solidarity leave. This support will be defined in collaboration with the project leaders to best meet their expertise needs.

Particular attention will be given to:

  • The justification and contextualization of the project (what societal challenges does the project address?)
  • The innovative nature of the solutions provided
  • The ecological indicators put in place to assess the benefits of the actions
  • The resources implemented to ensure the project's sustainability (funding, governance, etc.)
  • The consideration of socio-economic issues, particularly social vulnerabilities
  • The local anchoring and the sharing of the project's lessons learned
